Overview

We are pleased to present our latest Group Show titled Figures in Four which will feature artworks by Nadine Lohof, Yuhao Chen, Hannes Heinrich and Sebastian Hosu

The human figure as a subject in painting and imagery is alluring, it provides immediacy, reference, and presence. The four artists' main interest, however, lies beyound mere representation. The show is conceived as a meditation on the formal and aesthetic possibilities of this subject, from matters of formal autonomy up to phenomenolical and psychological concerns, diverse traditions in composition, or the embedding of the figure within contexts. Categories such as weight, movement, fragmentation, surface, proportion, gesture, but also clothing appear as well as impressions of transformation and appearance within supposedly arcadian terrains. In this show, human figure is understood as a vehicle and starting point for very individual artistic approaches, questions, and problems, which proves a thoughtful, prolific and highly aesthetic place for the viewer.
