How do we inhabit and transform the spaces around us, making them ours? In her solo exhibition Echo, Klara Meinhardt explores the serial architecture of East German Modernism—such as prefabricated Plattenbau grids and concrete fences—tracing how these everyday structures shape our collective lives and are shaped in return by individuals within their interiors.
Her process is tactile: next to large cyanotype on canvas works, in other artworks she seamlessly weaves the deep blues of her cyanotypes together with textiles and sculptural elements. By overlaying architectural layouts with domestic objects and fabrics, she creates a beautiful tension between the public sphere and the warmth of private life. In these works, human presence is captured like a chemical blueprint—a literal drawing with light that lingers in the space like an echo.
