Bettina Marx

Bettina Marx (b. 1981) creates works that span painting, drawing, and installation, often inspired by everyday observations and landscapes from her travels. Her art interacts with the architectural space around it, extending beyond traditional canvases to incorporate materials like wood, textiles, and silk in an experimental, process-driven approach. Using elements like tree trunks and mattresses as printing blocks, Marx produces large-scale installations and frottages. Her abstract forms, both painted and collaged, emerge from a foundation of drawings that accompany her journeys and serve as an observational archive. Recent exhibitions include “A Siren’s Lull” at DOD Gallery, Cologne (2024), and “Entropic Motion” at Galerie Judith Andreae, Bonn (2023).
