Paul Glaw: Botox

12 July - 30 August 2025
Overview
Paul Glaw’s work reflects on the lingering divisions and unresolved narratives of post-reunified Germany, delving into the social, political, and psychological shifts that followed. Glaw’s visual language is defined by a contrast between orange and blue - a palette that evokes inner tensions: lethargy vs. turmoil, repression vs. expression, violence vs. silence.
The exhibition unfolds in an installative setting that recalls a secular chapel beyond religious connotation, filled with atmospheric density. Drawing inspiration from the role of sacred spaces (particularly churches), Glaw creates a contemporary site for contemplation in an otherwise accelerated and noisy world. The exhibition becomes a space of protection, reflection, and collective remembrance.

The title BOTOX is deliberately ambiguous, hinting at a societal urge to erase the visible traces of time and memory. In contrast, Glaw presents a visual world where what is percieved as inadequate, incomplete, or unhealed is brought to the surface.
