Wolfgang Ellenrieder: Stabile Eskalation
Opening: 8 March, 4 - 7 pm

8 March until 12 April 2025

We are delighted to announce the opening of the exhibition 'Stabile Eskalation' by Wolfgang Ellenrieder

Wolfgang Ellenrieder is an acclaimed German artist whose diverse works and commitment to the art scene appeal to both professionals and art lovers alike. His works are represented in renowned public and private collections, including the Bavarian State Painting Collections in Munich, the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart and the Sammlung Hannover Re.

Ellenrieder has been a professor of painting and drawing at the Braunschweig University of Art (HBK) since 2010. There he promotes young artists and emphasizes the importance of exhibitions in teaching in order to prepare students for the professional art world.

His artistic practice is characterized by a play with reality, its representation and art historical references. In doing so, he examines the conditions and possibilities of painting and contemporary sculpture, creating works that provoke thought in the viewer, whether through the reflection of various image modes of our culture or through deliberately staged ruptures or instabilities  in the works themselves, for example when he keeps his works in abstract space or formally, when cut edges, print edges or places where different reproduction techniques collide. He has received several awards for his work, most recently the Art Prize of the Fürstenfeldbruck district in 2021 and the highly acclaimed working scholarship from the German Academy in Rome, Villa Massimo, in 2019.

Ellenrieder's pictorial questions and creations, his continuous presence in exhibitions and publications as well as his active role in art education make him one of the most interesting personalities in the German art landscape.
