Lena Stühmeier DE, b. 1996

Through her painterly practice, Lena Stühmeier seeks to reveal and display the beauty and depth in the ordinary, of everyday life and the quiet things surrounding us daily. Her studio serves as a creative playground where she creates color landscapes in an intuitive if not deconstructive process. With this approach she reflects on her role as an artist, her possibilities to show and to make visible the undisclosed or mute aspects of life, oftentimes through the lense of personal experiences. Stühmeier renders her depictions with a lush application of paint which results in thick and rich textures adding aesthetic dimension to the characters and sceneries of her paintings. Thus she offers a full experience of color value, a materiality of narration, and creates aesthetic statements of emotional depth.

Lena Stühmeier (*1996) lives and works in Leipzig. She completed her studies at Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst (HGB) Leipzig in 2021, receiving a diploma in painting. Already during her studies she was part of several group and solo exhibitions, most recently at Bräuhausgasse Vienna and participating in the Horror Vacuii project in Leipzig.
